First, deliveries are instantly captured by our patented mail slot or bin, which are nearly impossible to pry or fish. Once your delivery is safely inside, our locking delivery boxes protect your mail while shielded by vandal-proof, electro-galvanized steel.
Your mail can then only be accessed by using one of our keys via the patented, anti-pry, locking door. All of these security features combine to form a 'bunker' around your sensitive information and prevent potential criminals from making a quick buck off of your good name.
What makes a Mail Boss durable?
Buying a new mailbox shouldn’t be a regular occurrence. You want to protect your investment and deliveries with a mailbox that withstands time and the elements. A mailbox that rusts easily will be structurally weak and will eventually lead to the destruction of your mail. When it comes to weather protection, Mail Boss locking mailboxes, constructed of cold rolled electro-galvanized steel, go far beyond.
First, we compact room temperature raw steel stock through a series of metal rollers, similar to rolling out cookie dough. This forces atoms together in a tighter bond and makes its strain hardened strength as much as 20 percent stronger than similar width steel.
Next, the steel plates are immersed in an aqueous zinc/saline bath and electroplated with zinc to protect from corrosion. Finally, after being thoroughly welded together, our mailboxes are given a weather-resistant powder coat. Powder coating is a process in which a thermoplastic polymer is electrostatically fused to a metal surface and cured at a high heat. this creates a hardened plastic skin on your mailbox.
Powder coating your mailbox helps it resist rust and is more resilient than conventional paint. With minimal maintenance, you should have a beautiful mailbox for years to come. But just because or boxes are tough doesn’t mean they have to be boring. What makes a mailbox weather-resistant?
It's safe to say our mailboxes are durable and weather-resistant thanks to the added strength and thickness of electro-galvanized steel. In general, our curbside styles hold up well, rain or shine. The shell overhangs the door, which will provide significant coverage and deterrence to water intrusion and normal rainfall on top of the units.
How should I install my mailbox?
The answer to this question depends on a few key factors:
- Your type of residence
- What kind of delivery service you receive
- How much mail you regularly collect
Wall mounted mailboxes
If you’re in an urban setting with walk up mail delivery, a wall-mounted mailbox may be right for you. Wall mounted mailboxes attach directly to the wall and can typically hold about 2-3 days of mail. If you’d prefer to mount a smaller box to a post, some of our wall mount boxes also have that capability.
Post mounted mailboxes
If you live in a suburban or rural area that has drive-up delivery or already have a residential curbside mailbox, post-mounted mailboxes are typically installed at the end of a driveway along a curb. USPS regulations dictate that curbside mailboxes must be placed on the right-hand side of the road 6 to 8 inches away from the curb, and the slot or door must be mounted 41 to 45 inches from the ground. To accommodate these regulations, Mail Boss offers a variety of in ground and surface mount posts to suit almost any situation.

The most formal of the post-mounted styles is the column-mounted mailboxes. Column mailboxes are typically custom built for a particular home and offer unique style options and significant protection from snowplow damage. All of our curbside boxes can be easily installed in a new or pre-existing column as long as the proper measurements are taken into consideration.
