Lock Cover

This is a well made cover, easy to install and fits the lock perfectly. The first one lasted almost 2 years until the rubber hinge broke. It would be nice if there were a better option for the cover--perhaps a twist on? But overall, it is fine and when this one breaks I will reorder another one. Love our MailBoss mailbox.

Fits perfect, easy enough install if you pay attention to how the lock comes apart.

This lock cover works as advertised, and I don't know why they wouldn't include it by default or why anyone wouldn't buy it as an option, because it completely protects the lock from weather. It also makes it less conspicuous that it is a locking mailbox, since the lock no longer shows from the street.

One issue is that the thickness of the cover pushes out the lock slightly, enough that the lock would no longer close! I had to add just a thin washer on the inside of the lock to compensate. The existing lock has a washer right underneath the nut that could be re-purposed for this, but it is a very thick washer and would overcompensate. I wanted the door to close with little to no space between the door and the mailbox frame, for maximum protection against water and small insects getting in.

I would recommend to the manufacturer that they provide this washer, and also that they provide a sheet of instructions with illustrations for those who might be less mechanically inclined.

Fit well

The lock cover works good so far, we will see how it holds up to Wisconsin weather over time. I purchased an extra one just in case it doesn’t hold up.
