Is the Mail Boss is 100% theft proof? While no locking mailbox is 100% theft proof, the Mail Boss, hailed "Postbox Maximus" by Popular Mechanics, is a cut above the rest.
When we set about to design a security locking mailbox, we purchased numerous competitors’ locking mailboxes and subjected them to potential real-world scenarios of vandalism and attempted theft entries.
What we discovered was appalling: Every locking mailbox we found for less than $400 could be violated in about 2 seconds with a flat head screwdriver. The engineering team at Epoch Design was shocked by the ease with which mail thieves could penetrate most “security” mailboxes. It was disturbing to think that so many locking mailboxes on the market give consumers a false sense of security and may lead to unexpecting customers becoming victims of mail theft.
How good locking boxes actually prevent mail theft
Any company can claim that their locking mailbox is secure and theft proof, regardless of how true that statement is. When considering a locking mailbox, you should look for tangible validation for the company's claims- customer reviews, non-sponsored reviews, and third-party testing. A good security mailbox needs to successfully deter would-be identity thieves.
So how do you actually prevent mail theft? Build a heavy duty, quality mailbox that takes a lot of time to violate. If a thief has to stand in front of your mailbox for 20 minutes with a crowbar and a blow torch, the odds are he'll get caught long before he manages to break in.
How the Mail Boss prevents mail theft
At 40 pounds of electro-galvanized steel and at a fraction of the price of some of the other heavy hitters on the market, the Mail Boss is virtually theft proof, thanks in no small part to our patented, anti-pry locking system. While not absolutely theft proof, it's definitely close. If you're going to invest the money in a locking mailbox, make sure you get it's worth in security and protection.
